Dr Lian Wee Bin is a certified paediatrician and neonatologist, registered with the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. She has acquired more than 20 years of medical experience as a doctor, the last more than 15 being in the domain of paediatrics, particularly in the field of newborn medicine and developmental paediatrics. She is fluent in English, Mandarin and some Chinese dialects.

She first received her medical training at the National University of Singapore and then went on to further her studies in the specialist field of paediatric medicine, attaining both the Masters of Medicine (Paediatrics), Singapore as well as the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, UK. Subsequent to this, she attended a Fellowship programme at the renowned Children’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts, US, focusing on developmental paediatrics and newborn medicine.

As a doctor and mother, her passion is in helping every child achieve his or her optimal developmental and learning potential. Her predominant focus, therefore, lies in screening for and the early identification of the at-risk child, starting from the perinatal and infancy period (such as preterm infants and babies with low blood sugars at birth), through preschool years (such as those with speech and language delays, motor and co-ordination issues and more complex disorders such as autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorders) into schooling years (such as those with learning disabilities, specific language impairments and dyslexia). She believes in the early profiling of a child’s strengths and weaknesses and the implementation of Early Intervention, especially in the first 6 years of a child’s life. She is also a strong supporter of Family Empowerment and Child Advocacy.

Sharon is a trained child psychologist and a member of the Singapore Psychological Society. She has been an active member of the professional society since 2005 and served as the Honorary Secretary up till March 2021.

She received her initial training at the University of Sydney under the Programme of Psychology, followed by the completion of the Master's programme in Health Sciences with a speciality in Child and Adolescent Health at the same university.

With seven years of experience in a hospital setting, she has been a pioneer in the assessment of hearing-impaired children for their developmental and learning needs with the National Newborn Hearing Screening Programme and the National Cochlear Implant Programme from its inception till last year. She has also assessed and worked with children with a variety of special needs, including autistic spectrum disorders, attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorders and learning disorders.

Sharon has a keen interest in research and her papers on child development and learning issues in hearing impaired children and children born to women with Systemic Lupus Erythematous were presented at the Asia Pacific Congress/Symposium.

Eva is a Certified Speech & Language Therapist, specializing in Paediatric Speech, Language, and Social Communication Deficits such as Autism Spectrum Disorders. She also manages Life Speech, a private Speech and Language Therapy Centre in Singapore. She is a skilled healthcare professional with 10 years of experience.

Eva’s clinical work includes screening, diagnostic assessment, and intervention of Speech, Language, Communication, and Related Disorders. She has worked with children with articulation and language difficulties, children with childhood apraxia of speech/dyspraxia, children with autism, children with selective mutism, children with dyslexia, and children with feeding difficulties. She has worked extensively and collaborated with hospitals, private centers, and the community in helping children with special needs.

Eva has undergone Professional Clinical Training to implement a variety of Treatment/Intervention Techniques/Strategies: Hanen Language Programs (It Takes Two To Talk, More Than Words, TalkAbility, Target Word), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Certificate in Autism ARC, Oral Motor OPT are just some of the tools/techniques that she utilizes when working with children with special needs. Some of her best practices include Client-Centred Learning/Positive Learning Climate/Prepared Learning/Monitoring Progress. She strongly believes in a collaborative Parent-Therapist Partnership that empowers parents to be involved in their children’s learning and development.

Eva has completed doctoral research at Southern Cross University and contributed to the knowledge pool in the area of transition planning for children with autism from education to employment in Singapore.

Fiona is our in-house Occupational Therapist with a passion for providing holistic care and a belief in continuous learning and open-mindedness.

She graduated with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from Nanyang Polytechnic and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) from the University of South Australia, through a Singhealth Scholarship.

She supervises the early childhood educators in training to provide development support and learning support in preschools. She was also previously involved in resource preparation for preschool teachers. She was awarded the ’Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists Award for Clinical Education in Occupational Therapy.

She manages a wide range of patients, with varied diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorders, Gross and Fine Motor Delay, and Motor Coordination Disorders. She also trains the children for attention management, emotional regulation, handwriting tasks, visual-perceptual difficulties, processing and sequencing issues, and many other domain concerns including play.

Fiona believes firmly in equipping both the child and the family. She believes in dynamic training and the importance of implementation across different environments so that the child adapts faster. She is an integral member of our team at SpecialKids Clinic.

Hernina is a certified Speech and Language Pathologist who specialises in the paediatric population. She was trained in Flinders University, Australia and has been practicing her skills in private practice in Singapore since 2015.

Hernina has experience working with children with special needs between the ages of 2 to 18 years old. She is passionate in working with children with global developmental delay, autism, speech apraxia, speech/language disorders and feeding difficulties. She is trained in PROMPT, Lori Overland Sensory Approach to Feeding and Social Thinking.

Hernina is a family-centred speech pathologist who believes that her role is not only to provide services to the child but also to guide the parents in the therapy journey as well. Hernina works collaboratively with parents on their child’s strengths and weaknesses so they can better understand the value underlying the treatment plan that is implemented. As such, Hernina trusts that a good therapeutic relationship between the child, parents and clinician is the key to progress.

Jaya Mathew graduated from KMCH College of Occupational Therapy, India. She has worked in both rehabilitation centres and special school settings in both India and Singapore. Jaya has experience managing various cases like orthopaedic, neurology, psychiatric, developmental delays, sensory processing disorder, ASD, ADHD, and learning difficulties.

Jaya has practiced in several child development centers, special schools, and early intervention centers, giving her abundant experience working with children with special needs. Her paediatric experiences include providing children with school-based interventions, as well as planning & carrying out individualized or group treatment programs that are most suited to the functional needs of the child.

Her professional affiliations include membership of the Singapore Association of Occupational Therapists (SAOT) and the All India Occupational Therapists Association (AIOTA) in India.

Cindy is a Registered Psychologist and a member of the Singapore Psychological Society. Cindy had received training in cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, play therapy, adventure counselling, youth work, and family therapy.

Cindy earnestly helps children in developing their emotional resilience, and achieve their potential. She believes in building trust and rapport with children, and then engaging and motivating them, whether in psychological assessments or psychotherapy. As a parent herself, Cindy empathises with the challenges of parenting. She helps parents strengthen familial bonds and support them in enhancing their children’s holistic development.

Cindy started working with children since year 2000, at the Singapore Children’s Society. Besides individual, family, and group interventions, she was also active in working with various voluntary welfare organisations, schools and government agencies to establish appropriate support for children and their families. During her time at Singapore Children’s Society, she was also involved in the Juvenile Court’s Beyond Parental Control (BPC) programme. She was in charge of setting up “Beacon Works”, a BPC diversional programme, and headed the programme for a year.

Cindy subsequently joined Thomson Paediatric Centre (Child Development Centre) as a psychologist where she provided consultations and psychological assessments (intelligence testing, learning difficulties, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder) to children. She then worked as a locum at a private psychological practice.
